Here we go! Station #5 begins today!
This Station depicts Simon of Cyrene bumping into Jesus as a Tourist in Jerusalem. Simon carries the cross for Jesus for a while. As the writer of reflection #5, Rev. Kathy Nolte, describes, Simon travelled by foot from Egypt to Jerusalem to encounter the holy of holies in the temple. But God was on the loose! I absolutely love this idea!
So…God will be on the loose again today in my studio! What might this bring today and in the days to come? It reminds me of a fellow parishioner who has passed on now who used to remind us to be careful what we asked for - once the Holy Spirit acts - watch out!! The Celtic Church uses for the symbol of the Holy Spirit a wild goose flying. What will come with a wild goose alive in my wee studio?!
Rev. Nolte also advises that we be on the lookout for surprises in our faith journeys. The offer of a three-month exhibition premiere, the production phase of this entire project, the funds donated, the grants accepted, the perfect supporting people, the excitement for the vision, the retreat led…all of it was the most delightful work of a wild goose Spirit of God! Who knows what will come alive this week and next as we bring Stations #5 to life in fabric? But the process of co-creating with God is always profound, joyful, surprising, and meaningful.
This is what I trust today.
